So what is it? 33 more students dead. Maybe more. And yet, after Columbine, Texas A&M, Red Lake High School, Enoch Brown - we still have no national action on gun control. Our Congress and pResident are marrionettes of the NRA. Do you think that the 2nd Amendment would have been as vague had the authors of the Constitution lived today - with the uzi, semi-automatic weapon, silencer, or thermonuclear device??? Does the right to keep and bear arms apply to any and all arms??? Or should it apply only to muskets?
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
What about the first clause: "A well regulated militia..."? The 2nd Amendment fundamentalists seem to omit that part.
We are a screwed up nation - where firearms kill about 85 people per day, 30,000 per year and injure another 65,000 per year. http://www.hno.harvard.edu/gazette/2000/09.28/firearms.html But, the NRA is so all-powerful, that Congress is loathe to reign in the proliferation of guns.
Their slogan: Guns don't kill people.
Bullshit.

the fucked up world in which we live
i was just watching a Discovery Times episode on Iran's execution of a 16 year old girl for "crimes against chastity." can the world get any more fucked up? when i was in the navy back in 1978 and 1979 i went to ET (electronics) "A" school in great lakes, IL and there were a couple of Iranian sailors in my class. this was during the iranian revolution... they were sailors in the imperial iranian navy and were fearful about returning to iran. i wonder what ever happened to them?
there are many times when i get totally pissed off with our current pResident. he's an idiot, that's indisputable. and the fact that he thinks he's god's chosen makes him all the more dangerous. but, thankfully, this is the U.S. and not a theocracy, yet.
but, despite our horrific bush, cheney, rove and rice, and despite the fact that corporate oil interests exhibit way too much power with this administration we are still way better off than iran. no thanks to bush.
